Waterstruck bricks have a distinctive finish thanks to the use of water in the moulding and de-moulding process. Following the standard soft mud process, wet clay is pressed into moulds that are lubricated with water, rather than sand, to prevent sticking.
As a result, Birtley bricks have an attractive, smooth finish. Thanks to the waterstruck process, bricks made this way also have a degree of irregularity, giving them a rustic air that makes them the perfect product for renovation projects where striking the right aesthetic tone is key.
High Grange’s Keekle Meadows development predominantly use bricks from Ibstock's Birtley factory including, Beamish Blend, the Birtley Olde English including the Buff and Grey, and the Northumbrian Cottage. As a leading Cumbrian housebuilder with a well-deserved reputation for creating beautiful places to live, High Grange has an intrinsic understanding of the importance of specifying the right materials for its developments.

Brick blends play a vital role in defining a development's character. At Birtley, we offer both carefully curated ready-made blends and the opportunity to create something completely bespoke, giving you flexibility without compromise.
Our off-the-shelf blends, including Beamish, Townhouse, Millhouse and Borrowdale, have been expertly developed to deliver a consistent, well-balanced finish. Hand-blended in controlled proportions, these products ensure bricklayers achieve an even mix across elevations, whether bricks are taken from the top or bottom of the pack.
For projects that demand a stronger sense of identity, Birtley also offers the freedom to build your own blend. By selecting specific bricks, colours and tones from our unique range, you can create a blend that is entirely your own.

Bricks from Ibstock's Birtley factory have been used to bring a number of award-winning projects to life. Explore projects featuring these unique, waterstruck bricks.
