new facades now reclad in Ibstock Otterburn Antique brickwork. The cut and carve approach retains 88% of the existing structure (along with its embodied carbon). The extended concrete frame and infill brickwork have been exposed internally to provide improved nett dimensions, thermal mass and textures that express the building’s regeneration.

The Clydebank East site is the first fully ‘net zero ready’ housing development from Scotland’s West Dunbartonshire Council. The project, which comprises of 89 dwellings, made up of both houses and flats, saw groundwork begin in January 2023, and its first set of residents welcomed in autumn 2024. The Ibstock Himley Ebony Black Brick option enhances the visual robustness of the development, nodding to its setting within a large industrial urban context.

Lower Carbon Social Homes

Manchester City Council has delivered 69 zero and low carbon social homes on Council-owned land. The remarkable project features 36 one-bedroom apartments, 12 two-bedroom apartments, 17 two story, three-bedroom houses; and 4 three storey, four-bedroom houses. To accommodate for older residents, 16 of the apartments will be designated for individuals aged 55 and above.
