Delivering Lift Shaft Solutions for a New Care Home Development

Ibstock supplied lift shaft units for a new care home development in Crewkerne, Somerset, being delivered by contractor LNT. Scheduled to open in February 2027, the care home will provide modern accommodation and facilities for residents in the local area.  

The project required the installation of two lift shafts to provide access between the ground, first and second floors of the building. Completed in March 2026, the project presented logistical challenges due to restricted site access, requiring deliveries to be made using 25ft urban rear-steer vehicles. 

To support safe and efficient installation, the lift shafts were lifted into position using a 60-tonne crane alongside MEWPs to facilitate safe access and egress.

An experienced installation team completed the installation in a single day, helping to keep the project on programme.
